Ambler Flatwoods Nature Preserve is getting a lot of love lately! Along with our current boardwalk project, we’re rejoining our campaign against invasive species that volunteers started last year. On Tuesday, November 26th, we’ll resume the removal of invasive species along the trail, enhancing the quality of the native habitat even further. Ambler will be looking better than ever!

Keith Richard Walner Nature Preserve comprises an impressive and significant floodplain forest along the Little Calumet River. The usual invasive suspects have taken hold along the banks of the Little Cal: bush honeysuckle, multiflora rose, and round-leaf bittersweet. This workday will focus on managing these species at the front of the preserve.

Lydick Bog is truly a place like no other. The rare bog habitat is home to many delicate and unique plant species, and all manner of wildlife and fungi thrive on the floating mat of peat- and the forest and field around it. Propagating native plants in an ecosystem like this one is crucial to preserving the species diversity and quality of habitat in the preserve.
