Our native seed cleaning efforts are really kicking into high gear. We have a backlog of seeds to prep for winter and spring sowing. Seed cleaning is a fun way to get an intimate look at the quiet but fascinating life cycle of our native plants while directly supporting our Stewardship staff, and an excellent chance to get to know your fellow volunteers better.

Ambler Flatwoods Nature Preserve is getting a lot of love lately! Along with our current boardwalk project, we’re rejoining our campaign against invasive species that volunteers started last year. Keith Richard Walner Nature Preserve comprises an impressive and significant floodplain forest along the Little Calumet River. The usual invasive suspects have taken hold along the banks of the Little Cal: bush honeysuckle, multiflora rose, and round-leaf bittersweet. While not officially open to the public, volunteers can get a glimpse of what Bourbon Woods has to offer the hiker and leisure ecologist while helping to restore the woodland habitat.
