Green Heron Pond
Gary

A quiet enclave of natural habitat within a residential neighborhood, Green Heron Pond features a range of habitats from interdunal wetland to high dune. Black oak savanna and woodland grade into mesic oak forest, providing habitat for numerous woodland and savanna wildflowers.

The dominant wetland feature is a permanent pond which supports fish, frogs, turtles, muskrats, and waterfowl. Smaller seasonal ponds also occur at the site.
