Cressmoor Prairie is one of the last remaining black soil prairies in the state of Indiana. Native wildflowers, tall grasses, and the myriad pollinators, insects, and other critters that rely on them are adapted to high levels of sunlight. When shrubs and tree saplings that start to invade a prairie, they create shade, decrease the amount of sunlight, and negatively impact the ability of our native plants to grow.
