SUMMARY:Woody Wednesday @ Meadowbrook
DESCRIPTION:This time of year\, we turn our attention to removing species with woody stems. Multiflora rose\, bush honeysuckle\, oriental bittersweet\, and autumn olive are the big four we’re contending with. Invasive species removal is a great way to get an intimate look at the preserve while helping to ensure that native plants and wildlife can continue to thrive here. \nBe prepared to work outside and dress appropriately for the weather. Conditions on the workday may be wet. We will provide all the necessary equipment\, gear\, light snacks\, and water. We encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle! \nInterested? Please RSVP through the website form below. \nPlease fill out the online Volunteer Application prior to attending. We will also have hard copies for you at this volunteer event. Stop by to lend a hand and chat with our staff about other opportunities that can flex your skills and fulfill your interests!

SUMMARY:Fall Phenology Hike @ Lydick Bog
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the third hike in our seasonal Phenology Hike series with a guided fall walk exploring the changing rhythms of the natural world as autumn settles in. As temperatures cool and the days grow shorter\, plants and animals prepare for the coming winter through migration\, seed dispersal\, dormancy\, and other remarkable seasonal adaptations. This fall hike offers a unique opportunity to observe how the landscape transforms during one of the most dynamic times of the year. \nParticipants will build on the concept of phenology—the study of nature’s seasonal rhythms—and discover how careful observation can deepen our connection with the more-than-human world. \nAs the third program in this four-part series that meets once each season\, this hike offers a chance to revisit the same landscape and witness its transformation throughout the year. Each hike can stand alone\, but together they create a richer understanding of the ever-changing cycles that shape the natural world. \n  \nWhat to Bring: Long pants and sturdy shoes are recommended. We encourage you to bring your own water bottle as there is no potable water at this location. \nWeather Policy: Rain or shine. Event will be cancelled in inclement weather with no rain date.

SUMMARY:Tales & Trails @ Meadowbrook
DESCRIPTION:The season is changing\, and so are the trees! Come to Meadowbrook for a cozy story time and nature adventure as we read If You Find a Leaf by Aimee Jicuro. A jacket\, boots\, and a water bottle are recommended. \n  \nTales & Trails invites children and their caregivers to gather for a short story that sparks curiosity\, followed by an exploration of one of our beautiful conservation destinations. Expect to hear a tale and hike a trail while discovering the natural wonders around you together.  \nThis is a 1.5-hour program designed for children ages 3-5. Younger siblings are welcome to join.  \n  \nWeather Policy: Rain or shine. Event will be cancelled in inclement weather with no rain date.
