Volunteer! World Cleanup Day
September 18, 2021

We love having people enjoy nature, birding, and hiking on our preserves, but sometimes litter infiltrates from the parking lots and nearby roads making them feel unwelcoming or unsafe. We need your help as we celebrate World Cleanup Day so we can make our preserves and the world a cleaner place!
We invite you to visit your favorite preserve with a trash bag and clean up a small area around the entrance or as you’re walking the trails. In 15 short minutes, together we can make a world of difference!
When you’ve collected a bag of litter, take a picture of yourself with it by the preserve sign and post on social media with the hashtag #heinzetrust showing the world your good work!
If you want to make a larger impact and work with a group of friends at one of our preserves, contact Volunteer Coordinator Christine Maloney at 219-242-8558 or cmaloney@heinzetrust.org for a supply of garbage bags, reachers, and safety vests if you will be working along a road.
Our preserves are free to visit and are open dawn to dusk.
