Winter Woody Invasive Plant ID and Management Workshop

Learn the skills you need to identify and manage some of Indiana’s toughest woody invasive plants. The thorn-studded branches of multiflora rose and the knot-forming vines of Asian bittersweet can be a challenge.

Our Stewardship Ecologist Doug Botka and volunteer Phillip Shreve will guide you in how to identify these plants by their buds, leaf scars, and other characteristics in the winter. With this, we’ll discuss why invasive removal work is important, treatment methods, and planting alternatives for the backyard landscape. Then, we will take a walk through Meadowbrook Nature Preserve to put these skills to the test.
