Watersheds in the Winter

Learn about our efforts in watershed conservation and what makes the Lake Michigan watershed so important with naturalist and water quality monitoring volunteer Barb Homme. You’ll hike along the trails of Meadowbrook Nature Preserve, which boasts a variety of glacial moraine features and streams that connect to the Salt Creek watershed.

  • What to Bring: Please dress for the weather (bring enough layers!), wear sturdy shoes, and bring your own water bottle.
  • Trail: This hike will be about 1.5 miles long, with varying terrain. There may be short sections of either stairs or steep (up to 40-degree) inclines, with most of the trail being relatively flat. Some sections of the trail are narrower than 3 feet wide.
  • Weather Policy: Rain or shine. Event will be cancelled in inclement weather. No rain date.
  • Restrooms will be CLOSED for the season.
