Volunteer Workday @ Meadowbrook

Meadowbrook Nature Preserve has some of the prettiest views in the Region, but aggressive and invasive garlic mustard has cropped up in many areas along the trails and brush needs to be pulled.  It’s a great way to get an intimate look at the preserve while helping to ensure that its native species can continue to thrive without being outcompeted and choked out by invasives.

This volunteer workday is part of our Garlic Mustard Week volunteer initiative. During the entire week, various Shirley Heinze preserves like Meadowbrook will be host to workdays focusing on the removal of this destructive invasive species. It’s a chance to get some meaningful invasive management done across a wide swath of our service area.

Be prepared to work outside and dress appropriately for the weather. Conditions on the workday may be wet or chilly. Sections of the trail may be muddy. Volunteer workdays are held in all types of weather, although if conditions become hazardous during or leading into the workday, we may be forced to cancel abruptly. Your safety is our first concern! We will provide all the necessary equipment, gear, and water. We encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle!
