Volunteer Workday @ Coulter

Come out and help us manage invasive plant species at John Merle Coulter Nature Preserve! One of the most beautiful and ecologically diverse preserves in Northwest Indiana, Coulter features lizards and cactii alongside varying milkweed species and a wide range of other native life. Non-native sweet clover threatens the diversity of this life, and we plan to pull it to prevent its spread.

Be prepared to work outside and dress appropriately for the weather. Conditions on the workday may be very warm or wet. Volunteer workdays are held in all types of weather, although if conditions become hazardous during or leading into the workday, we may be forced to cancel abruptly. Your safety is our first concern! Some of the work area may be wet, muddy, or have some standing water. Sturdy boots are strongly encouraged, and it wouldn’t be a bad idea to bring along rubber or waterproof boots if you have them. Make sure to wear long pants and maybe even long sleeves, as we may encounter ticks, mosquitoes, or poison ivy. We will provide all the necessary equipment, gear, and water. We encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle and carpool if possible! Parking may be limited.
