Volunteer Workday @ Bayless Dune
This little preserve in Miller features oak forest, wetlands, high dunes and blowouts, and an incredible native plant diversity. It truly is a gem in the midst of an urban landscape. The cactus-studded, sandy slopes of Bayless need some love, though, as round leaf bittersweet and other invasive species have taken hold in some areas. We need your help to cut them back!
Be prepared to work outside and dress appropriately for the weather. Conditions on the workday may be wet and chilly. Volunteer workdays are held in all types of weather, although if conditions become hazardous during or leading into the workday, we may be forced to cancel abruptly. Your safety is our first concern! Ascending the highest of the dunes may present a relatively strenuous climb, but most are pretty easy. We will provide all the necessary equipment, gear, and water. We encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle!
