Volunteer! Water Bottle Spill Cleanup (Day 1)
March 2 @ 10:00 AM - 3:00 PMFree
Hundreds and hundreds of water bottles have spilled on the bank of the Grand Calumet River at Seidner Dune & Swale, littering the eastern area of the preserve. Many have broken loose, but some are still in cases. There are also a few wooden pallets strewn about.
Our Preserve Steward, Corey Wagner, removed as many bottles from the water before they were washed out into Lake Michigan. But, we need your help to collect the bottles, cases, and pallets, and remove them from the preserve.
This will require many helping hands, and if needed, we will continue our efforts on Friday, March 4. Contact the office for confirmation about the second workday.
Be prepared to work outside and dress appropriately for the weather. We will provide all the necessary equipment and gear, as well as granola bars and water, although we encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle. Feel free to stay as little or as long as you’d like.
So that we can best plan for the event, please RSVP on our website at heinzetrust.org/events, by calling the office at 219-242-8558, or emailing email@example.com. For information about last minute cancellations, please check back here.
