Volunteer! Seed Sowing in the Great Marsh
December 3, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm CST

We’ve had great success collecting seeds from the Great Marsh this autumn, and now it’s time to sow them in our restoration areas! Join Stewardship Assistant, Allison Visnyak, at the Great Marsh in Beverly Shores to learn how to sow the various types of seeds, from asters and monkey flower to blue vervain and cardinal flower.
We will provide all the necessary equipment and gear, as well as granola bars and water, although we encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle. Feel free to stay for as little or long as you’re able.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear protective waterproof or high-top hiking boots, as the marsh has several inches of standing water throughout. Meet Allison at the intersection of Beverly Drive and Constance Avenue.
So that we can best plan for the event, please RSVP by calling the office at 219-242-8558 or emailing Volunteer Coordinator Christine Maloney at cmaloney@heinzetrust.org. For information about last minute cancellations, please check Facebook.
