Volunteer! Bayless/Nobel Cleanup & Beautification
May 14, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm CDT
Free
Nobel Elementary School in Gary has been shuttered for years and has become a dumping ground for discarded furniture, tires, roofing shingles, wind-blown debris, and roadside litter.
Our Preserve Stewards, Tom & Terry Cera, have been working to restore the habitats and create a trail linking the school property and the Bayless Dune Nature Preserve.
Join Tom Cera and Marcella Gregory, community organizer the Pottawatomi Trail Area Block Club, as well as the many helping hands of St. Barnabas Church, Miller Citizens Corporation’s Litter League, and the City of Gary as we remove litter, beautify the property, and create connections within the community.
Be prepared to work outside and dress appropriately for the weather. We will provide all the necessary equipment and gear, as well as granola bars and water, although we encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle.
Meet us in the parking lot of Nobel Elementary School at the intersection of Pottawatomi Trail and N. Vanderburg Street.
So that we can best plan for the event, please RSVP by calling the office at 219-242-8558 or emailing volunteer@heinzetrust.org.
