Summer Solstice Hike @ Lydick Bog Nature Preserve

June 21 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm EDT

Free

a wooden boardwalk going into a wetland with shrubsThe summer solstice is the longest day of the year. With all that extra daylight, there’s plenty of time to take a hike with Shirley Heinze Land Trust!

We will walk through the wetlands and woods of Lydick Bog Nature Preserve and observe the changes that summer brings. You’ll also learn about the glacial history that led to the formation of the bog and the surrounding wetlands. Lydick Bog Nature Preserve is one of our most biodiverse properties and is a great spot for birding and botanizing.

The trail at Lydick Bog is about 1.8 miles long and varies from flat and grassy to moderate inclines and uneven terrain. The accessible boardwalk to the bog is 0.2 miles one-way and can be accessed from the parking lot.
