Summer Solstice Hike @ Rum Village Park
June 21 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm EDT
Free
Update: Due to parking lot construction, this event has been relocated to Rum Village Park, 2626 S Gertrude St, South Bend, IN 46614.

The summer solstice is the longest day of the year. With all that extra daylight, there’s plenty of time to take a hike with Shirley Heinze Land Trust!
We will walk through Rum Village Park and observe the changes that summer brings. Learn about the next wave of wildflowers, and search for birds and butterflies as they settle in from migration. This evening program should offer cool weather as well as a chance to spot wildlife as they take advantage of being out of the heat.
For those interested in learning about Lydick Bog, our Programs Coordinator will be able to answer questions about the glacial history that led to the formation of the bog and the surrounding wetlands, leading to Lydick Bog Nature Preserve being one of our most biodiverse properties.
Please meet at the parking lot located by the pavilions on the east end of the park. The Nature Center will be closed by the time the hike starts. Restrooms will be available. Please check out the City of South Bend Venues, Parks, & Arts website for more information on Rum Village.
