Spring Into Wildflowers

May 7, 2022 @ 8:30 am - 10:00 am CDT

Free

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR MAY 7 @ 9:30AM ET.

Spring may be delayed this year, but don’t let the cool weather and cloudy skies let you miss out on the brilliant display of wildflowers!

Join us on a Walk With Shirley Heinze and Friends at Bendix Woods County Park to take in spring’s splendor. An Interpretive Naturalist from St. Joseph County Parks will lead us on our hike through high quality, old-growth beech-maple forest, to search for ephemeral marvels including wild ginger, purple spring cress, blue cohosh, cut-leaved toothwort, squirrel corn, Dutchman’s breeches, yellow trout lily, false mermaid, wild geranium, blue phlox, bloodroot, large-flowered trillium, red trillium, Canada violet, and possibly the locally rare crinkleroot.

Please meet at the Runnels Shelter at Bendix Woods County Park by 9:30am Eastern Time. Bendix Woods is located at 56960 Timothy Road, New Carlisle, IN 46552. Please note that Bendix Woods is part of the St. Joseph County Parks system and has a entrance fee of $4 (in-county) / $5 (out of county). Visit www.sjcparks.org/572/Bendix-Woods for more information.

Bendix Woods of St. Joseph County Parks was once owned by the Studebaker Corporation, and its Nature Center is in the 1926 Studebaker Clubhouse.
