Spring Wildflower Hike: Observing with an Artist’s Eye @ Meadowbrook

May 23 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm CDT

Free

Due to rainy weather, this event has been changed to May 23, 2024.

Join illustrator and volunteer naturalist Melissa Washburn to everything that is blooming at Meadowbrook Nature Preserve. Learn to identify various spring wildflowers and get some insight into how an artist’s visual sense can help you understand various ways to ID plants. Shape, color, and pattern all help in identification and with how to start painting and drawing flowers and plants. There will be time for doing some field sketching at the end if you’d like to bring a small sketchbook and your favorite drawing tools. No experience necessary!

  • Please wear sturdy shoes and pack your own water and snacks (potable water is not available).
  • Restrooms are currently closed for the season. Any changes will be reflected on this event page.
  • Meadowbrook features a covered pavilion and accessible parking.
  • Weather Cancellation Policy: This event will take place rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we will post cancellation information on this page and on our social media.
