Sights Among the Stars: How to Find Your Way Around the Night Sky

August 10, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm CDT

Free
Stargazers look through a telescope at night

Have you ever wondered how to find the North Star? Is that bright star I’m seeing actually a planet? Using bright stars and constellations, you can learn how to find your way around the night sky. We will also learn about the Perseid meteor shower which peaks a couple of nights after this program.

Dan Barriball has been an amateur astronomer since childhood, when his first night sky adventure was trying to find Halley’s Comet. He is a member of the Calumet Astronomical Society. Dan regularly leads astronomy programs at Indiana Dunes State Park, where he is a volunteer interpretive naturalist.
