October Big Day – multiple sites

October Big Day is a global event that unites people worldwide in a shared passion for birds, sparking a movement to observe, celebrate, and protect our feathered friends. Founded by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, this 24-hour event challenges bird enthusiasts to spot as many species as possible, generating vital data on bird migration and inspiring a deeper appreciation for both resident and migratory species. Indiana Audubon and Indiana Land Protection Alliance (ILPA) will host Big Day events featuring land trusts and nature preserves throughout the state.

Shirley Heinze Land Trust is excited to host Big Day at 4 different nature preserves this year:

• Lydick Bog (South Bend) | Guide: Evie Kirkwood & Jim Spier
• Meadowbrook Nature Preserve (Valparaiso) | Guide: David Rupp
• Seidner Dune and Swale Nature Preserve (Hammond) | Guide: Matt Kalwasinski

Please note that each event will start at 9:00 am in their own time zone. All events listed above will be in Central Time except for Lydick Bog, which will start at 9 am Eastern Time.
