Nature in the Arts – Printmaking & Plein Air

South Bend Museum of Art and the Northern Indiana Pastel Society are partnering with Shirley Heinze Land Trust for Nature in the Arts at Lydick Bog Nature Preserve on Saturday, August 3. This event is free and includes a variety of art projects you’ll get to take home!

Lydick Bog is part of a vast waterway system, including the St. Joseph Kettle Lake Corridor and the Kankakee Watershed. You’ll learn how the bog is connected to our local water systems with the South Bend Museum of Art through a multimedia relief print, which can be taken home or be added to a community art piece! Cathy McCormick of the Northern Indiana Pastel Society will lead a plein air workshop to guide you through the basics of plein air with a variety of media and using the beautiful landscapes of the nature preserve as inspiration.

What to Expect:

• Visitors may stop by anytime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. EDT
• Multimedia printmaking with the South Bend Museum of Art (all ages)
• The basics of plein air with the Northern Indiana Pastel Society (recommended for ages 13+)
• Live music by Christopher Lods and Mark Snell
• Guided hikes led by Shirley Heinze Land Trust staff and volunteers
• Cold brew coffee and other refreshments will be available from Cloud Walking Coffee
