“Grow One, Keep One” Milk Jug Dropoff Hours
June 23, 2022 @ 7:00 am - 7:00 pm CDT
Hi “Grow One Keep One” and “Lydick Native Plant Propagation” Volunteers,
It’s about time to drop off your milk jugs! As a reminder, if you are a Grow One, Keep One (Meadowbrook) native plant propagator volunteer, you may keep up to half of your seedlings. If you are a Lydick Bog propagator volunteer, all seedlings must be returned to Lydick Bog. When dropping off, there will be no need to sign in or check in with a staff member—you can drop off and go.
Meadowbrook Propagator Volunteers
When you arrive, please set the milk jugs in the designated area adjacent to the parking lot. It will be directly beside the office building and clearly marked for jug dropoffs.
We encourage you to bring your plants between June 23-24th to help us prepare for the [June 25th volunteer re-potting workday] (you may also bring them the morning of the 25th between 6am-noon).
Lydick Propagator Volunteers
You may start returning milk jugs to Lydick Bog Nature Preserve now through June 24th. Please set the milk jugs behind the garage, unless you have offered to “bump up” the seedlings into larger pots as previously discussed with Doug Botka, our Stewardship Ecologist.
If the above times do not work out for you, please contact us and we will arrange another time for you to drop off your jugs.
Also, please record your volunteer time in our [Volunteer Hours Recording Form], including your travel time to pick up supplies, planting the seeds, watering the milk jugs, and returning them. You may enter all your time in one bulk entry at the end of the project, or individual entries throughout the growing season.
We will be hosting a volunteer workday at Meadowbrook to “bump up” the seedlings you all worked so hard to take care of on Saturday, June 25th. Please RSVP to this workday [through our website].
Thank you for helping restore native plants across our preserves!
