Meadowbrook Monday

Held on the first and third Monday of every month as we work together on a variety of outdoor projects at Meadowbrook Nature Preserve! Volunteers are a crucial part of the Shirley Heinze ecosystem, helping us to steward, garden, prune, and build solutions that beautify the preserve for all to enjoy. This Meadowbrook Monday we will be focusing on removing invasive species.
Invasive plants crowd out our native plants and reduce biodiversity. Come out to learn how to identify one of the Terrible Trio: autumn olive, oriental bittersweet, or black locust. These species spread quickly not just here but throughout the region.
If you are new to Meadowbrook Monday, please fill out the Volunteer Application and Liability Waiver before the event. We will also have extra forms available on site. All ages welcome. Bring your favorite garden gloves if you have them. We will provide all the necessary equipment and gear, as well as granola bars and water, although we encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle (we have a water fill-up station for you to use)
Please dress appropriately for the weather and come prepared with protective footwear, long pants, long sleeves, hat, and sunscreen: we’ll be working outside! There may be poison ivy, mosquitoes and ticks; we will have bug spray and TecNu on hand for your protection.
Tickets are not available as this event has passed.
