Meadowbrook Monday – Woody Invasive Removal

It’s woody invasive species season!  Meadowbrook Nature Preserve has some of the prettiest views in the Region, but we rely on YOU to help us keep them beautiful- even as winter sets in.  This time of year we turn our attention to removing species with woody stems.  Multiflora Rose, bush honeysuckle, oriental bittersweet, and autumn olive are the big four we’re contending with.  We might even come across some black locust or callery pear.  Invasive species removal is a great way to get an intimate look at the preserve while helping to ensure that native plants and wildlife can continue to thrive here.

Be prepared to work outside and dress appropriately for the weather. Conditions on the workday may be wet and very cold.  We will provide all the necessary equipment, gear, light snacks, and water. We encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle!
