Lydick Bog Hike

August 20, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm CDT

Free

Experience one of the rarest habitats in the world at Lydick Bog! Join local ecologist Steve Sass for a 90-minute trip to explore the history, geology, and ecology of the 178-acre property. The hike’s co-leader will be Steve’s Indiana Nature LLC co-founder and partner, Amanda Smith. Amanda will share her knowledge of historical plant uses and her fascination with plant/insect relationships. The hike will culminate on the new boardwalk trail, where we’ll see tamaracks and other bog plants suspended in the sphagnum moss mat. The presenters will also highlight land stewardship and preservation’s role in biodiversity and ecological sustainability.

This hike will have a limited attendance, so please RSVP to reserve your spot.

Meet under the Lydick Bog pavilion Saturday, August 20 at 10:30am Eastern Time.
