Lydick Bog Garage Painting & Restoration

Lydick Bog Nature Preserve in South Bend, Indiana is a beautiful place to visit, but the remaining structure from its days as a farm (the old garage) needs some TLC. We need your help to beautify and restore it by removing brush, replacing and reglazing windows, and scraping, priming, and painting the doors and exterior.

Priming and painting will be completed on June 29 and June 30. We will work from 8:30am – 11:30am EDT both days. If anyone has experience with windows and would be willing to take on the replacement and reglazing aspects of the project, please let us know.

We will provide all the necessary equipment and gear, as well as granola bars and water, although we encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle.

We are also seeking scrapers, roller handles, tarps, and ladders (loaned or donated). Loans should be clearly labeled with the owner’s name for prompt return after the project is completed.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and getting messy. We recommend protective footwear, long pants, long sleeves, goggles, hat, and sunscreen. There may be poison ivy, mosquitoes, and ticks, but we will have insect repellant and TecNu on hand for your protection.
