Insect-or Gadget: New & Old Tools for Insect Inspection – part of Outdoor Adventure Festival

Whether you’re a butterfly fanatic, an entomology student, or even afraid of bugs, there’s something for everyone at our insect event at Meadowbrook Nature Preserve! Local entomology enthusiast Chris Joll will provide a digital microscope for close-up views of insects. Shirley Heinze Land Trust will offer traditional tools like magnifying glasses and field guides to help identify local critters. Discover the differences between insect orders and learn why they are crucial to our ecosystems and communities.
We will be stationed at the Meadowbrook pavilion and will take guided walks on the .25-mile accessible loop trail throughout the program.
- The accessible loop features a compacted gravel trail and benches along the way.
- This event will take place rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we will cancel the program for the safety of visitors.
- Outdoor restrooms and accessible parking are available at this location.
