This volunteer workday is part of our Garlic Mustard Days program. During the coming weeks, we will be hosting workdays focusing on the removal of this invasive species at various Shirley Heinze preserves like Lydick Bog, Walner, and Bayless Dune.
Nature Highlight: Aggressive and invasive garlic mustard has popped up in many areas along our trails, and this invader needs to be pulled. It’s a great way to get an intimate look at our preserves while helping to ensure that native species can continue to thrive without being outcompeted and choked out by invasives.
What to Bring: Long, light-colored pants and socks along with sturdy shoes are recommended. We encourage you to bring your own water bottle as there is no potable water at this location.
Length: 3 hours
Weather Policy: Rain or shine. Event will be cancelled in inclement weather. No rain date.
Amenities: Accessible outdoor restrooms and parking will be available. No potable water.
Please note that this will take place at 10am Eastern Time.
Please fill out the online Volunteer Application and waiver prior to attending. We’ll also have hard copies for you at the workday. Come lend a hand, enjoy some time out in the woods with fellow volunteers, and learn about other meaningful opportunities with Shirley Heinze!
