Earth Week – Cleanup at a nearby Nature Preserve
April 19 - April 25
Help pick up trash and litter on a Nature Preserve. It builds up over the winter, so now is the best time to tackle a clean up!
Starting April 19th, we will provide garbage bags and neoprene gloves in a tote at the trailhead of the preserves listed below, and you can visit whenever is best for schedule. Spending even 15 minutes to pick up trash during your visit makes a big impact!
– Seidner Dune and Swale (Hammond) along the road that leads to the preserve entrance
– Barker Woods (Michigan City) around the outside perimeter of the fence
– Walner Nature Preserve (Chesterton) around the parking lot, trailhead, and picnic area, as well as along the trail adjacent to the railroad tracks
– Cressmoor Prairie (Hobart) especially around the perimeter fence on the west boundary (W 40th Pl) and in the main parking lot on Lake Park Ave
Not near one of these preserves? Visit any of our nature preserves and take a spare grocery bag for any bits of litter you come across. The ones listed above just need more attention!
