Earth Day Clothing Swap

Celebrate Earth Day with Shirley Heinze Land Trust by participating in a FREE clothing swap!

Did you know that the average consumer buys 60% more clothing than 15 years ago, but keeps items only half as long? Some garments are worn less than ten times before disposal. This has added to millions of tons of textile waste into landfills. Let’s come together to shop in a more sustainable way!

How it works: You bring your gently-worn clothes, shoes, and accessories (bags, jewelry, scarves) that are taking up space in your closet and swap them for new-to-you pieces to refresh your wardrobe.

• Bring 5-10 items (undergarments excluded, bodysuits and/or swimwear included as long as they’re new with tags).
• All styles, seasons, and sizes are welcome. We will not be including children’s clothing for now.
• Leftover items will be donated to local shelters.
• This is a FREE, community-based event. You may donate items without taking other items with you, but please keep it within the item limit.

If you are bringing items, please arrive between 4:30-5 PM so items can be screened. The “swapping” will take place between 5-7 PM. Please join us at any time between those hours.

Weather permitting, the clothing swap will be held outside at Meadowbrook’s Pavilion, next to the Conservation Center. In the spirit of Earth Day, walking the trails and exploring what Meadowbrook Nature Preserve has to offer is also encouraged.

This is a welcoming space to share our love for the Earth. It will be a fun, social, and sustainable event. We hope to see you there!
