Earth Day 2023: Garlic Mustard Pull @ Lydick Bog
April 22 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT

Make a difference this Earth Day by helping to remove garlic mustard, one of the most prevalent invasive species in the area!
Join Shirley Heinze Land Trust’s Staff Ecologist Doug Botka to learn more about and, of course, remove this invasive plant. Garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata) can spread quickly as it release compounds that prevent other plants from growing. Garlic mustard pulls this time of year are crucial to prevent the plants from flowering, seeding, and spreading even further.
We will meet at Lydick Bog Nature Preserve on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 3pm ET.
This work day will only require sturdy shoes, long pants, and your own water and snacks. The workday will involved hiking about a third of a mile off trail, so please be mindful of uneven terrain and tick prevention. There is no potable water at the preserve. No tools required—garlic mustard can simply be pulled out of the ground (just make the roots get pulled out, too!).
Be sure to RSVP to join us for an afternoon of stewardship, and thank you for keeping Lydick Bog Nature Preserve beautiful!
