Community Hike @ Lydick Bog
August 26 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT
Free
Explore Lydick Bog, one of Indiana’s few “true bogs,” with Staff Ecologist Doug Botka. Established as a Shirley Heinze Land Trust nature preserve in 2016, this property tells a compelling story of how conservationists and community members came together to protect one of the rarest habitats in the world. Take a hike to learn about the incredibly biodiversity of the preserve, unique plant life, and the purples, whites, and yellows of late-summer blooms.
This event is FREE and open to the public. The trail is about 1.6 miles long, of which .2 miles are along accessible gravel and boardwalk trails. The remaining 1.4 miles consists of mild to moderate terrain; sturdy shoes are suggested for walking through the woody and muddy areas of the trail.
Outdoor restrooms, parking, and a pavilion are available at Lydick Bog Nature Preserve. Dogs are permitted on our properties if they are kept on a leash and picked up after.
RSVP to let us know you are joining and to reserve your spot in the bog!
