Capes, Crowns, & Critters

Wear your capes and crowns and meet wildlife ambassadors from Humane Indiana Wildlife!

Kids and their families are welcome to dress in their favorite costumes. You’ll have a chance to show off your costumes on the new Meadowbrook Amphitheater stage, learn about our local wildlife from Nicole Harmon of Humane Indiana Wildlife, then meet some of their wildlife ambassadors in person!

For this and all Meadowbrook Amphitheater events, please note that the amphitheater is about a 10 minute walk from the parking lot. Please allow enough time to arrive to the venue based on event start times.

Schedule:

• 10:15 am – Kick-off/welcome from partners
• 10:30 – 11:00 am – Presentation from Humane Indiana Wildlife, featuring wildlife ambassadors
• 11:30 – noon – Parade: Children and their families are welcomed to take the stage and show off their costumes!
• 12:30 – 1:00 pm – Second presentation from Humane Indiana Wildlife, featuring wildlife ambassadors

Activities:

• From 10am – noon, take your photo with Smokey Bear, courtesy of the National Park Service!
• Meet a real fairy from the Izaak Walton League Porter County Chapter!
• Humane Indiana Wildlife will feature various animal ambassadors, make-your-own bug stamp crafts, and owl pellet dissections.
• Shirley Heinze will provide various nature-based crafts and puppet show story-telling featuring books from the South Haven Public Library.
• Forgot your crown? Make your own crown at our craft station!

Things to Know:

• Restrooms will be available near the main parking lot, about 0.4 miles from the amphitheater. Please note that there are no restrooms at the amphitheater itself.
• This event will take place rain or shine! In case of inclement weather (severe rain, wind, or storms), this event will be cancelled.
• Please, no pets allowed at this event to keep our wildlife friends safe.
• Seating will be available; however, feel free to bring your own chairs or picnic blanket!
