November Marsh

Dear friends of Shirley Heinze Land Trust: This is the ninth in a series of “snapshots” featuring our Beverly Shores/Great Marsh preserve that I began writing in March of this year. I hope you have enjoyed reading them, and that you have learned a bit about our wonderful local treasure along the way. I know I have in putting them together.
As we enter November, this year’s marsh growing season has drawn to a close. Shirley Heinze Stewardship Staff has spent hundreds of hours on site over the past few months, continuing their work in removing invasives and harvesting native plant seeds. There were also a number of Volunteer Workdays in the summer and fall months supervised by our new full-time Volunteer Coordinator, Jim Haniford. Thanks to all of you who came out to help!
As has become the custom, Staff will lead a seed sowing event again this year on Black Friday (November 24, the day after Thanksgiving) from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm CST. This is always a great time to enjoy the outdoors and meet fellow nature lovers. If you would like to join us, please RSVP here. I hope to see you then.
