Celebrating Volunteer of the Year

On the evening of October 19, 2023, the Brats & Brews Appreciation Event illuminated the Meadowbrook Nature Preserve pavilion. Despite the chilly and rainy weather outside, the atmosphere inside the pavilion radiated warmth and camaraderie.

Shirley Heinze Land Trust proudly celebrated a cumulative 3,615 volunteer hours dedicated since October 2022. A special acknowledgement went to Claudia Wood, who was honored as the “Volunteer of the Year” for her unwavering and exemplary support. Claudia spent her time conducting water quality monitoring, maintaining trails as an Adopt-A-Trail steward at Ambler Flatwoods Nature Preserve, and supported a variety of other volunteer projects. Claudia was also a 2023 Bringing Nature Home award recipient. Additionally, Shirley Heinze recognized Hans Lagoni, Dale Nichols, and Evie Kirkwood for their significant volunteer contributions throughout the year.
